I refer to this unknown as the woman in the red dress because it reminded me of that scene in the Matrix. I mean if flowers were women lol!
In the collectors’ world having unknowns is not ideal and it’s especially frowned upon to purchase named hybrids only to have them bloom incorrectly. When that happens they become unknowns.
That was not the case here, I saw a picture of this hybrid for sale as an unknown. I’m glad I did. Not only does this plant have a gorgeous bloom it’s an exceptional grower. It has an unusual growth habit as well, growing more upright, with shorter branches so it maintains a compact bushy appearance.
Note the interesting variation in color from the first season blooms to the second season blooms. It will be interesting to see the third season blooms.
